Background

Founded in 2013 by Matt Chitharanjan and Namrata Asthana, who started roasting in a spare bedroom with a small tabletop roaster after being frustrated by the lack of fresh, high-quality coffee in Delhi. Engineer Shivam Shahi joined after a cold email via LinkedIn and took charge of operations and expansion.

Blue Tokai pioneered India's third wave of specialty coffee — single-origin beans, farm-to-cup traceability, sustainable sourcing, experimental processing, and small-batch roasting. Now India's largest specialty coffee brand with 150+ cafes across 10 cities and ~₹400 crore annual revenue as of 2024.

Their Producer Series features selective lots picked from specific estates — smaller, higher-quality batches than their standard single-origin lineup.
