Kerehaklu Estate
Background
From old Kannada: "kere" (by the lake) + "haklu" (shelter) โ "the shelter by the lake." Family-owned for four generations under the Thipaiah family, now run by Ajoy and Pranoy Thipaiah. ~275 acres in Chikmagalur.
Coffee grows alongside wild fig, jungle mango, avocado, jackfruit, and pomelos. Processing includes washed, natural, and honey sun-dried lots. Spring-fed freshwater from the estate's lakes is used in natural processing, with parabola canopies to manage rain and controlled drying conditions.
Known for the "Snakehead Naturals" โ a limited Producer Series lot released through Blue Tokai in 2022, named after the Snakehead fish native to the estate's lakes.
