Tastings

2026-03-26 โ€” Switch immersion style

Tried immersion. It's fine, but not really worth paying much attention too. I'm going to finish off this lot (if I can continue to stand it) and skip adding more tasting notes.

2026-03-24 โ€” Switch V60 Style (lower temp)

Tried to brew this coarser and at a lower temp:

  • 15g coffee, 250g water, 26 clicks, 88 degrees water
  • Fast brew: infusion 45 seconds, 2 pours 45 seconds apart, total 2:25

It's less bitter. There is slightly more aroma, I can see hints of something fruity underneath the roast. But it's still too dark and mostly I can taste the roast.

Drinkable, but not really great.

2026-03-23 โ€” Switch V60 Style

First brew of this coffee:

  • 15 grams coffee, 250 grams water
  • Comandante 23 clicks, 94 degrees water
  • 1 minute infusion (50 grams)
  • Two 100g pours 45 seconds apart (with a quick shake after each pour)
  • Total time: 2:45

Dry aroma: I can smell that this is a natural processed coffee, but I didn't get anything strongly distinct. Just 'tropical' notes (not very sharp).

Cup aroma: Feels a little more nuanced than the dry aroma, but still not very clear. Seems to be getting a bit sweeter as it cools.

Initial taste: really disappointing. The beans were over-roasted: the main thing I can taste is the roast, followed by bitterness and then a hint of character at the end.

Such a disappointment. Drinkable is what I would call this coffee if I'm being charitable. Likely a good lot ruined.
