Background

Family-owned estate in the Hassan district at the foothills of the Western Ghats, established in the late 1880s by the British. Now in its third generation under Sharan YK (Gowda family), who has driven a significant expansion into experimental processing. ~360 acres total, 145 hectares under coffee cultivation.

Surrounded by five man-made lakes used for sustainable monsoon-rain irrigation. Intercropping includes pepper, areca nut, oranges, and silver oak. Received the Best Quality Bean Award from Ernesto Illy (2018).

Works with a wide range of Indian specialty roasters on distinct lots — washed, anaerobic, honey, yeast-fermented, and natural — making it one of the most experimentally diverse estates in India.
