Background

Located in the Vilcabamba valley, Loja — sometimes called the "Valley of Longevity." The hacienda has a long agricultural history predating its specialty coffee focus; the Encalada family shifted toward quality specialty production in the 2000s–2010s. Ecuador's equatorial position gives it unusual growing conditions — producers on both sides of the equator, with intense UV and year-round harvesting potential on some farms.

One of Ecuador's better-known specialty farms internationally, appearing in Cup of Excellence and specialty auction contexts. Geisha lots have attracted roasters including Cypher Urban Roastery.
